Moss Removal Methods

Roof moss removals are performed by carefully brushing off moss growth, followed by an air-sweep of the entire roof, clearing debris from all gutters and downspouts, and lastly, applying an environmentally safe treatment to all roof surfaces. Why Moss On The Roof Is A Concern

First and foremost, Peakwalker has the policy of being honest with all customers as to whether removing the moss on their property’s roof will extend the life of that roof. Unless the cosmetic issue is of concern to the customer, we will only sell a maintenance service when there is reasonable evidence that it will provide lasting benefit to a property. Besides being a cosmetic eyesore, moss growth on rooftops can lower the value of any property due to its effects on the integrity and longevity of the roof. Moss grows a single cell at a time, creeping its way over and under shingles, shakes, and tiles, regardless of the material. As moss works its way under a shingle, shake, or tile, it lifts that surface allowing water to creep in beneath and potentially dampen the underlayment and roof decking. Asphalt shingles have a weather sealing strip at their front edge and as moss separates the shingles from this glue strip, it causes those shingles to become more susceptible to wind damage. Where organic life settles and grows, so does rot. Cedar shakes and tiles look better and last longer when moss is kept off them. Peakwalker uses removal methods that are gentle on your roof and is one of few providers to offer effective and environmentally safe treatment options for all roof types.
